(Please Note: The Seaquist Home is not currently open for tours, as it is in the midst of a complete renovation and remodeling project. March 2002 Updated)

Mason in the 1880's was still a fairly rough and tumble place. Most of the homes in town were wood frame construction, though a few had used rocks from the abandoned fort to clad themselves in red sandstone splendor. One man had a vision of even greater glory.

The Seaquist Mansion - photo by Larry HodgeMr. Reynolds was a banker in Mason, and he constructed his home (we call it a home, though you may prefer the term mansion) just north of the town square. With its 17 rooms, 14 fireplaces, wraparound porches and intricate stone work, it stands out as a unique structure, no matter where it might be located. The Seaquist family acquired the home, and have spent a great deal of time and money restoring it to its Victorian elegance. Mr. Reynolds abandoned the home in bankruptcy, so the Seaquist family has, deservedly, forever attached their name to the home.

Though tours are not currently available, the home is a "must see" while you're touring Mason.
