Margaret Bierschwale (1894-1973)

Miss Bierschwale was born and reared in Mason County, Texas. She received an A.B. degree from Randolph Macon College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Master of Arts degrees in English and Library Science from Columbia University in New York. She worked as Librarian at the New York Public Library and at John Tarleton College in Stephenville, Texas. In 1948 she joined the Library Science faculty of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Her reaearch was conducted at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., numerous museums, and county courthouses. Other publications include Fort McKavett Texas, Post on The San Saba, Mason County, Texas 1845-1870, and "The Handbook of Texas, Vol II."
